A Peace Pole Dedication at Christ Church honors Hiroshima, Delaware, USA.
Event Date: September 21, 2025
Published: July 10, 2026
During the International Day of Peace weekend in 2025, the community of Christ Church in Delaware gathered to dedicate a Peace Pole and affirm a shared commitment to peace.
Ken and Connie Matsumoto joined members of the congregation in gratitude, remembrance, and hope around the universal message: May Peace Prevail On Earth.

The dedication carried special meaning as the world continues to remember the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Ken’s father survived the bombing, making this ceremony not only a public commitment to peace, but also a deeply personal act of remembrance.

A Peace Pole stands quietly, yet speaks continuously, reaching beyond divisions of culture, nationality, religion, and belief. Peace poles remind us that peace is something we can nurture in our homes, our communities, our places of worship, and within ourselves.
During the dedication, gratitude was offered to all who helped bring the Peace Pole into the life of the Christ Church community.
Ken concluded the gathering with these words: May peace prevail in our houses of worship, in our communities, in our hearts, and on Earth.
We invite you to enjoy this brief video from the dedication and witness how one Peace Pole became a visible expression of remembrance, healing, and hope.
Each Peace Pole planted is a part of a global movement of people and communities choosing to make peace visible.
As August approaches, we invite you to consider planting or dedicating a Peace Pole in remembrance of Hiroshima on August 6, Nagasaki on August 9, or in honor of a person, community, milestone, or intention that is meaningful to you.
You might gather family, friends, students, neighbors, or members of your community for a simple dedication. You might offer a song, a moment of silence, words of remembrance, or a shared commitment to peace.
If you feel inspired to bring an official Peace Pole to your home, school, place of worship, business, garden, or community, we encourage you to order soon so there is time for your Peace Pole to be created and shipped.
