May Peace Prevail on Earth: Friend Gail Burkett Has a Garden Where the Message of Peace Lives Through Every Season.

June 19, 2026

As we approach the Solstice, we thought we’d share a glimpse of the seasons through the eyes of a Peace Pole in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. May Peace Prevail On Earth friend Gail Burkett has a garden where the message of peace lives through every season.

In her photos, her Peace Pole stands quietly through snow, spring blossoms, summer flowers, visiting birds, beads, ribbons, and the companionship of her beloved dog. Again and again, the message remains present:

Gail received her Peace Pole a few years ago as a birthday gift. It arrived at her home in a large box, unexpected and full of possibility. She remembers opening it gently and letting it rest for a day or two on her floor, as if giving it time to become accustomed to Idaho, to her home, and to the land where it would soon stand.

Eventually, Gail and her husband found a home for it near a pole with a birdhouse. They secured it with a river strap, the kind used by river rafters, and there it began its life in the garden.

Over time, the Peace Pole has became much more than a beautiful symbol,  it has become part of her daily spiritual practice.

Gail walks past the Peace Pole on her way into her medicine wheel garden where she sits in her rocking chair and prays out loud. She begins with gratitude. She welcomes all her relations. She greets the living world before her and offers prayers for those she loves, for the Earth, and for herself.

Reflecting on what the Peace Pole has given her, Gail shares:

“The Peace Pole has taught me to pray. I find it very good company. I walk past the message May Peace Prevail On Earth, step into my medicine wheel garden, sit in my rocking chair, and begin with gratitude. I welcome all my relations, pray for them, and ask them to pray for me.”

There is something deeply beautiful about a Peace Pole becoming part of the rhythm of a garden. The Peace Pole stands near a birdhouse, in the snow, the flowers and the sun. It is often visited by birds. In Gail’s garden, the Peace Pole is woven into life and the seasons. Day after day, it offers the same reminder:

For Gail, the message is not abstract. It is something she encounters with her body, her breath, her voice, and her heart. It greets her before prayer. It accompanies her into gratitude. It helps her return to what is steady and true.

This is one of the quiet gifts of a Peace Pole. It does not remove difficulty, uncertainty, or sorrow. But it can help create a place to return ~ a visible reminder that peace is possible, that gratitude can ground us, and that our prayers are part of something larger.

A Peace Pole in a garden becomes a companion, a witness, a blessing and a daily invitation.

And when shared through photos, it becomes an inspiration for others to imagine how the message of peace might live in their own homes, gardens, schools, communities, and sacred spaces.

Thank you, Gail, for sharing your Peace Pole through the seasons, and for reminding us that peace can be planted, tended, decorated, prayed with, and lived.

May peace be in our gardens.
May peace be in our homes.
May peace be with all our relations.

May Peace Prevail On Earth.
