Peace Pole Installed at Līdumnieki War Museum in Latvia.

A new Peace Pole has been installed at the Līdumnieki War Museum in Latvia, a place where the history and human cost of war remain deeply remembered.

Līdumnieki—formerly known as Aizpūre and, before that, Zabolotje—was a crossroads during the Second World War. Families in the area faced heartbreaking decisions about whether to flee East or West, and the memories of those years continue to shape the community today.

The Līdumnieki War Museum preserves the stories, artifacts, and personal testimonies of this important history. The newly installed Peace Pole offers a meaningful reminder that, alongside remembering war, we must also make room to speak about peace.

Standing at the museum as a symbol of dialogue, hope, and light, the Peace Pole points visitors toward a shared vision of peace in the world.

The installation took place during a visit by members of the Sakura Karate Club from Rēzekne.
