During the same weekend as the Nagasaki anniversary on August 9th, a powerful gathering for healing, remembrance, and peace took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Being Minneapolis: Healing Our City, Healing the World brought together community members and peace-aspiring organizations for a shared offering of presence, healing, and hope. Friends of May Peace Prevail On Earth International, including UNITY EARTH, UnGUN Institute, Pathways To Peace, Children of the Earth, and many other peace-centered organizations, helped create this meaningful event.

As the world remembered Nagasaki and renewed the call for a future focused on Peace, this gathering in Minneapolis offered another expression of the same universal longing:

May Peace Prevail On Earth.

Ingrid Fortmeyer captured a moving Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony featuring Ben Bowler of UNITY EARTH, Tezikiah Gabriel of Pathways To Peace, and all those gathered in community.

The Peace Pole dedicated during this ceremony will be planted in about a year’s time at the soon-to-be-built George Floyd Memorial Park in Minneapolis. Until then, the dedication itself stands as a commitment to healing, justice, remembrance, and peace.

A Peace Pole carries the message May Peace Prevail On Earth in multiple languages. Wherever it is planted, it becomes a visible reminder that Peace is something we are called to practice, protect, and make visible in our communities.
