A Meaningful Step Toward Reflection and Hope, Adelaide, Australia.

Planted: June, 2026

Yatala Labour Prison in South Australia has installed a new Peace Pole, generously donated by Rotary Adelaide.ย The Peace Pole has been placed in a quiet space for staff and visitors to reflect; it serves as a powerful reminder that peace, calm, and shared humanity can grow in any environment.

Reflecting the community’s diversity, theย Peace Poleย features the universal message โ€œMay Peace Prevailย On Earthโ€ in Kaurna (the language of the traditional owners of the Country in which the Peace Pole stands), English, Punjabi, and Vietnamese. Chosen by staff, it also includes Poppies of Remembrance and a vital mental health affirmation to reinforce themes of dignity and healing.

Crafted by Heidi Unferdorben of Peace Poles Oceania, the project comes full circle, with the printed message panels used on Peace Poles across Australia manufactured right inside the Yatala Labour Prison Sign Shop.

The Peace Pole was officially delivered and donated by Rotary Adelaide on April 27, 2026. It was then permanently planted and installed by the facility in June 2026, with the official announcement celebrated in July 2026.ย ย

May Peace Prevail on Earth.
