QUINCY — The Rotary Club of Quincy has announced the installation of a Peace Pole at Villa Kathrine, joining thousands of communities around the world in a powerful gesture promoting peace, hope and international understanding.

The monument serves as a silent but steadfast reminder of Rotary International’s mission to foster goodwill and peace across boundaries of culture, language and geography.
In a press release, Kathy Wolters, Peace Pole committee chairman, said, “This Peace Pole is more than just a monument—it’s a statement of our values. At a time when the world needs unity more than ever, we’re proud to stand with our global Rotary family and promote a culture of peace starting right here in our own community.”
Originating from the Peace Pole Project founded in Japan in 1955, more than 250,000 Peace Poles have been planted worldwide. Each installation represents a local commitment to building a more compassionate and peaceful future.
The Peace Pole installation is part of Rotary International’s broader peacebuilding efforts, including education programs, youth leadership development and partnerships with humanitarian organizations.
Community members are invited to visit the Peace Pole and reflect on the enduring importance of peace in our homes, schools and society at large.
