Peace Pole Dedicated for International Day of Peace, St. Clair, Michigan, USA

September 21, 2025

The Rotary Club of St. Clair commemorated the International Day of Peace by dedicating a Peace Pole at Rotary Centennial Park, according to a community announcement.

The Sept. 21 event was attended by Mayor Bill Cedar Jr. and members of the local Rotary Club.

The Peace Pole bears the inscription “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in English, German, French and Ojibwa. It is part of Rotary International’s global initiative that has seen more than 200,000 Peace Poles planted in 180 countries.

“Peace Poles are recognized internationally as monuments for peace. They remind us to think, speak and act in the spirit of peace and harmony,” said Ralph Livingston, Rotary Club of St. Clair president. “Peace begins with each of us, by serving and caring for others in our families and communities.”

The installation of the Peace Pole also highlights Rotary International’s broader commitment to peacebuilding, which includes supporting peace fellowships and scholarships worldwide.

The club invites community members to visit Rotary Centennial Park and reflect on the importance of peace in their daily lives.
