A Peace Pole Takes Root at Hiperbaric in Burgos, Spain.

Sometimes a Peace Pole is discovered like a quiet blessing waiting in the landscape.
A friend of May Peace Prevail On Earth recently shared photos with us after finding the Peace Pole at Shin Mei Spiritual Centre, located on Knapp Island near Sidney, British Columbia. The Centre is open to the public for day visits and offers a place of reflection, spiritual practice, and connection with the natural world.
On the north point of Knapp Island, the Peace Pole stands within Chinju no Mori, the Sacred Forest. It carries the universal message:
May Peace Prevail On Earth
inscribed in English, Japanese, Spanish, and Tibetan.
At Shin Mei, the Peace Pole offers visitors a place to pause, reflect, and send thoughts and prayers of peace around the world. Surrounded by forest and ocean, the message seems to travel outward from the island ~ across the water, through the trees, and into the hearts of all who encounter it.
Our friend EmilyJane shared what it felt like to discover and stand in the presence of this Peace Pole:
My feelings in the presence of peace poles is that I’m not alone in my way for peace, which washes over me a deep feeling of belonging to human family within the Mystery of All of Life, many have walked before me, many will walk after me, I never walk this path for peace alone.
Nature, The Trees and the Sea do this for me, yet the peace poles with words written in many languages are a grounded reminder of the divinity in all of us, here now planted on the earth at this time and eternal the hope for kinder, gentler world
Her words remind us that Peace Poles do more than mark a place. They help us remember that we are part of a much larger human family, walking together through the Mystery of All of Life.
The Shin Mei community also beautifully reflects on the power of this message, reminding us that when we hold the words May Peace Prevail On Earth, we are not only offering peace for those we know. We are also embracing those who may feel unseen, unloved, or forgotten, along with the children, the tiny organisms, the plants, animals, and all creation.
This understanding is deeply aligned with the vision of Masahisa Goi, who founded the Peace Prayer movement in 1955 as a neutral, non-sectarian movement for world peace, transcending religion, politics, and ethnicity.
Masahisa Goi taught that words carry vibration and energy: Words can inspire, heal, and transform the human heart.
The simple message May Peace Prevail On Earthcontinues to travel in this spirit.
Today, more than 200,000 Peace Poles have been planted around the world. Each one becomes a visible reminder that peace is possible, peace is needed, and peace can be practiced wherever we are.
At Shin Mei Spiritual Centre, the Peace Pole invites visitors to pause in the Sacred Forest and broadcast peace across the ocean.
May peace be on Knapp Island.
May peace be in British Columbia.
May peace be in every forest, ocean, community, and heart.
