News Blog: The Nature Protection Society ("Bund Naturschutz") donated a Peace Pole to Pöttmes, Augsburg, Bavaria-GERMANY

The citizens of Pöttmes gathered to take part in the Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony on August 9th 2014. The date was chosen in honor and in memory of Nagasaki Day, and respectfully so, as the Peace Pole originated in Japan.

Two Catholic priests blessed the Peace Pole.

The Nature Conversation Society reminded the citizens of Pöttmes about the horrors of Nagasaki.

Dagmar Berkenberg, Representative of The World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS), explained about the worldwide Peace Pole Project and the Catholic Urakami Cathedral in Nagasaki.

The three local Catholic Church rang their bells at 12 noon. The beautiful sound of ringing bells was heard throughout the village as attendees paused for one of minute of silence.
