Peace Pole in Finland

August 6th, 2009

Photograph of the Peace Pole was taken during the Hiroshima Day event where we walked around the Töölönlahti Bay in Helsinki, with a banner for World March for Peace and Nonviolence (www.theworldmarch.org <http://www.theworldmarch.org). During our walk, one of the participants informed us that there is a Peace Pole planted next to the Finlandia Hall. I was not even aware of the presence of the Peace Pole before that day! (Though I am a native of Helsinki, I live in Denmark.) So, when we came past the Peace Pole, we stopped for a while and took a couple of photographs. Then we proceeded to the event, where lanterns were released to the bay in memory of Hiroshima victims.
