Peace Pole and Flag Ceremony at “Quinto Elemento” Volterra Tuscany, Italy

“On July 11th, we held a Peace Pole planting ceremony and a World Peace Flag Ceremony at a spiritual centre in the countryside of Volterra in the Tuscany region. Peace messages affixed to the wooden Peace Pole are in Italian, Japanese, English, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Hindi.
This peace centre, known as ‘Quinto Elemento’ (the Fifth Element/Spirit), hosts retreats for those involved in yoga, meditation and peace education, as well as seminars on culture and the arts, attracting many visitors. On this occasion, our Italian MPPOEI Group held a five-day retreat there, culminating in the Peace Pole planting ceremony and the World Peace Prayer Ceremony featuring A4-sized flags.
The project came about after the couple who own the centre saw a Peace Pole at Ananda Yoga Community in Assisi, learned about MPPOEI’s activities, and asked me to plant one there. It was a very loving and moving ceremony in the middle of beautiful nature. Sonoko Tanaka / Italy”
