The Veteran’s Memorial Shrine and Museum at Memorial Park is open every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but Memorial Day weekend called for an extra special celebration.

Saturday began with a ‘Peace Pole’ Dedication. An 8-foot Peace Pole serves as a new memorial with the inscription, “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in multiple languages, creating a symbol of peace and hope across the world.
Created following World War II by Japanese activist Masahisa Goi, Peace Poles act as reminders to foster peace in thought, word, and deed.

Veteran’s Memorial Shrine and Museum Board Member Greg Banicki arranged for the memorial’s placement, and funding was provided by Jim Lakewind, a 1969 Veteran of the 4th Infantry during his tour in Vietnam.
