Peace Pole dedicated at Harmon Park, Elizabethton, Tennessee, USA

The Rotary Club of Elizabethton recently held its weekly meeting at Harmon Park to dedicate a Peace Pole adjacent to the park’s Rotary Pavilion.  Before offering a prayer of dedication, Acting President Bill Anderson explained that since World War II, more than 250,000 Peace Poles have been installed in nearly every country around the world.

These internationally recognized symbols of hope and unity stand “in silent prayer for peace on earth.”  Elizabethton’s Peace Pole stands more than six feet tall, with each of its four sides bearing the message, “May Peace Prevail On Earth,” in English, French, German and Spanish. Anderson’s prayer concluded, “May this Peace Pole be an inspiration to all who encounter it to seek to be peacemakers in both their public and personal lives.”
