Peace Pole at State Parliament of Thüringen, East Germany.

Our dear Peace Pole supporter Roland Büttner (89 years old) was given the German Bundesverdienstkreuz (Federal Cross of Merits, “medal of freedom”) Award by our Federal President on September 23rd. 

It was due to his many letters and conversations to politicians that the Peace Pole was planted in 2023 at the State Parliament (Landtag) of Thüringen located in the former East Germany.

He also made it possible that a particular rose referred to as “the spirit of Hiroshima rose“ was planted officially for the Garden Show in his hometown.  The rose shall honour the victims of Hiroshima.
