Here is a summary of how Peace Day and the Peace Pals Youth Ambassador were recognized and honored for the International Day of Peace.

How the 2026 International Day of Peace and the Peace Pals Youth Ambassadors were honored in Phillipsburg, NJ.

Starting in year 2024, many businesses, non-profits and other organizations in my town of Phillipsburg,  New Jersey have come together to recognize the Peace Pals Youth Ambassadors Art to honor the International Day of Peace.

For the 3rd Annual recognition, an exhibition of the Youth Art was on display for all to see with more of the community joining in to make it all happen and to honor the day in their own special way.

Community Honor#1:

In this 2026 year, I again partnered with Lee Services, a nonprofit that provides person-centered day programs and Learning Enrichment Experiences for adults and students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as with a new supporter, the nonprofit Norwescap (Northwest New Jersey Community Action Program, Inc.), whose mission is to offer a portfolio of programs and services that help people address immediate needs while working on a long-term solution.

The Lee Services team did several things: 1) artistically created an art display of 6 poster boards, with the Peace Ambassador Art showcased on side 1 and a creative visual of Peace on side 2. Then with the remaining art on hand, created hanging string art on braided yarn consisting of prints and creative Peace separator graphics.

The art posters were then displayed in the first floor windows of Norwescaps Main office in Phillipsburg and the string art in several other of their Head Start locations. The art was on display for several weeks leading up to September 21st and remains until the end of October.

The entire project consisted of the creation of the poster boards, the string art, card pocket size Peace messages to be shared with the community, triangle graphic Peace Message, The May Prevail Community Header.

Community honor #2:

The Phillipsburg Rotary Club installed and held a Peace Pole ceremony in our Shappell Park on Main Street.

The ceremony was very inspirational with words of Peace from the Mayor and the Rotary Co-President, with council and community members also  present. The pole languages,  including Braille, are a true reflection of the town.

Community honor #3

Lastly, the Firth Youth Center, a nonprofit charitable organization, which serves vulnerable and underserved youth through educational, recreational and athletic opportunities, facilitated youth rotations group discussions to learn more about what the  International Day of Peace is and to further discuss the definitions of peace, kindness, listening and respect.

During their rotation sessions, the youth completed peace coloring pages and participated in learning words about respect, which featured important terminology. They further  enhanced that learning experience by having the youth watch a YouTube video that further explained the significance of the day.
