Peace Lives Here: South Seattle College Welcomes a New Peace Pole, WA, USA.

Event Date: September 24, 2026
Posted: October 9, 2026

On September 24, 2026, South Seattle College welcomed a new Peace Pole to its main campus on Puget Ridge in Seattle, Washington.

Installed by the Rotary Club of West Seattle, this Peace Pole marks the club’s 10th Peace Pole dedication and carries the universal message: May Peace Prevail On Earth.

The dedication ceremony invited those gathered to hear the message spoken in each of the languages inscribed on the pole. South Seattle College students helped choose the languages, making the Peace Pole a reflection of the campus community and the many cultures represented there.

During the ceremony, Rotarian Keith Hughes shared a brief history of Peace Poles, and Rotary Club of West Seattle President Stefanie Felix reminded those present that peace is at the heart of Rotary.

Dr. Monica Brown of South Seattle College welcomed the Peace Pole as a symbol of hope and understanding.

Now standing on the south side of the courtyard near the college’s central administration building, the Peace Pole offers a visible reminder to students, faculty, staff, and visitors that peace belongs in every place of learning, gathering, and community.

Wherever peace poles are  planted, they invite people to pause, reflect, and remember our shared humanity.

We invite you to watch the videos from the South Seattle College Peace Pole dedication here:

May peace be at South Seattle College.
May peace be in Seattle.
May peace be in every school, campus, and community.
May Peace Prevail On Earth.
