The Colusa County Office of Education celebrated peace, remembrance, and community on September 25 with the rededication of its Peace Pole at the Education Village in Williams, California.

Originally dedicated in 2017 for the International Day of Peace, the Peace Pole bears the universal message “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in multiple languages. Recently relocated to the front lawn, it now stands as a more visible symbol of peace and unity.
Led by Superintendent of Schools Chuck Wayman, the ceremony honored fallen U.S. Army soldier Pfc. Rueben “Boy” Lopez and Desert Storm veteran Spc. Bradley J. West, whose names appear on the Peace Pole.

The Williams Junior-Senior High School Cadet Corps presented the colors, while Colusa VFW Post 2441 led the Pledge of Allegiance. Community members Barbara Hankins and Gloria Estrada helped organize the meaningful gathering.
A special peace-themed art show, coordinated with art teacher Bob Kirkman, featured artwork from local students, bringing creativity and youthful voices to this heartfelt celebration of peace, service, and remembrance.
