700 Peace Poles Planting Project for The United States of America. Historical:  January to September 1998

May 22, 2026

My name is Danielle Sato. In 1998, I was the coordinator of the 700 Peace Poles Planting Project for the USA. This Project involved nearly 800 members of May Peace Prevail On Earth International to donate these Peace Poles from Japan.

We calculated and divided 700 Peace Poles based on each state’s population ratio. Then members from Japan and the USA met at the airports in their capital cities and traveled, planting Peace Poles across the United States. We started planting Peace Poles from Florida in January, moving westward, then up to the Northern states. The Project concluded in September of 1998, with all 700 Peace Poles successfully planted.

It was such a wonderful and tremendous Project that I had ever experienced in my life.

We know that this Peace Pole is located in Capitol Park, below the Executive Residence. The World Peace Prayer Society, (renamed as May Peace Prevail On Earth) founded in 1955 by Masahisa Goi, started the Peace Pole Project in Japan.
