Peace Pole Dedication at Solas Bhride Centre & Hermitages, Kildare, Ireland.
February 1, 2026
We had a lovely ceremony on February 1st 2026 when we planted a Peace Pole in the grounds of our Solas Bhride Centre & Hermitages, Kildare, Ireland.

In beautiful sunshine, and led by the haunting sound of lone piper, John Moloughney, people gathered at Solas Bhríde for a ceremony to plant a Peace Pole. The occasion was opened by Sr Phil O’Shea, who outlined the history and significance of the Peace Pole movement. Sr Rita Minehan and Geraldine Moore of Solas Bhríde then unveiled the Peace Pole.

Prayers were offered by Dean Isobel Jackson of St Brigid’s Cathedral, Seán de Paor, a member of the Solas Bhríde Board, and Siobhán Keogh, Chaplain at KTCS, with the final blessing given by Bishop Denis Nulty. Interspersed throughout the ceremony, students from KTCS read the refrain May Peace Prevail on Earth in a variety of languages.
The ceremony was further enriched by the beautiful voice of Deirdre Ní Chinnéide singing Síocháin. The lyrics quoted below capture the spirit, hope and intention embodied in the Peace Pole.
Many thanks
