World Peace Prayer Ceremony in a Catholic Church in Milan, Italy

Sunday July 6th, 2025

I just returned from Milan. I am still a little tired but very happy!

Many unexpected things happened, such as a violent storm, that guided us to hold a World Peace Prayer Ceremony in a Franciscan Catholic Church, called Santa Maria alla Fonte.

Santa Maria alla Fonte is an ancient church in Milan.

A serious violent storm was arriving in the City of Milan on the same day, Sunday, July 6th, at the exact same time we had planned to hold a peace ceremony in a large public park. The officials of the City of Milan ordered to close all public parks to keep citizens safe.  This afforded us a beautiful opportunity to collaborate with the Franciscan monks, at a church that was nearby the park.

This Ceremony was supported by the City of Milan, in collaboration with three organizations, such as:  Chiesa Rossa Library of Milan City (the director is Laura Ricchina, my very dear friend who has been working for almost thirty years for World Peace and holding many peace events every year at her library and nearby schools), Atir Theater Company with many wonderful actors, and May Peace Prevail On Earth International in Italy, which I represent.

It was such an incredibly joyful surprise to be able to hold a World Peace Prayer Ceremony in a catholic church!!  It was a very beautiful and profound Ceremony.

We offered peace prayers in Italian and in all the world’s national official languages.

Everyone was deeply moved and some, to tears.

Infinite Joy, Sonoko Tanaka
