Solstice Flag Ceremony Corlear’s Hook Park, New York, NY, USA

June 21, 2025

The Summer Solstice was celebrated at Corlear’s Hook Park steeped in a tragic history of colonization and disconnection which wounded the spirit and ancestors of the land.  This area in lower Manhattan witnessed Kieft’s War and the massacres of the Lenape people robbing them of their land and culture. Four centuries later, a ceremony of remembrance and renewal was hosted by our peace community on this very spot as a profound act of healing.

A World Peace Flag Ceremony was offered not only to further the intention of healing the ancestors of the land but for the healing of our global family at a time when the earth needs a deep embrace of love and light.  After the Flag Ceremony,  the Earth Bank Fund initiative was launched beginning a 10 year global movement led by indigenous nations to reweave the sacred web of life for respect, reciprocity and renewal.
