South Haven Peace Pole Dedication in Johnston Park, Michigan – USA

May 4, 2025

Rotarians from across west Michigan descended on South Haven this past weekend as the Rotary Club of South Haven hosted the latest District Conference at the Michigan Maritime Museum.

The Rotary says more than 200 guests came into town for the event held on Friday and Saturday.

A highlight of the weekend was the placement of a Peace Pole in Johnston Park. The Peace Pole, which is placed at locations worldwide, is seen as a monument to peace, unity, and understanding, and South Haven is just the fourth location for a Rotary Peace Pole. It reads in English and Spanish, “May Peace Prevail On Earth.”

South Haven Mayor Annie Brown was on hand for the Rotary gathering and issued a proclamation recognizing the South Haven Rotary for 70 years of service to the community.

South Haven Rotarian Mark Odland serves as district governor.
