Peace Pole Project Comes to GISD through Rotary, Georgetown, Texas -USA

December 14th, 2022

The Rotary Club of Georgetown is partnering with GISD (Georgetown Independent School District) to bring Peace Poles to 11 campuses districtwide!

The first project was celebrated during a dedication ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Cooper Elementary School.

Students worked to help design the project, which was funded by the local Rotary Club and speared by the club’s Racial Unity Committee. Project gardens are designed to provide a space where individuals can come together or alone for reflection.

A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human race. Each Peace Pole bears the message May Peace Prevail On Earth in different languages on each of its sides. There is an estimated 250,000 Peace Poles across the globe dedicated as monuments to peace.

More projects will be installed during the 2023 spring semester.
