2021 United Nations International Day of Peace Celebration in Nigeria

2021 UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE CELEBRATION IN NIGERIA BY THE MAY PEACE PREVAIL ON EARTH INTERNATIONAL COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVE EVANG. MOJIMA ETOKUDO ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 21, 2021 AT CONFERENCE HALL OF EMERALD HOTEL LTD, RUMUOLA JUNCTION, PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA.


This year’s UN Peace Day took a greater dimension as participants were drawn across Nigeria, Egypt,and Mississippi USA. Notably, the Christian and the Muslim leaders met together for the sake of Peace in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.


The event commenced with an opening prayer by an American missionary  Mr. Cliff Jarrell who also delivered a speech (Sermon) on the topic” THE NEED FOR PEACE”.

Followed by a public lecture on the topic” SOCIAL WELFARE AS A CATALYST FOR EQUITABLE AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD” by  Professor Aniefiok Jackson Udoudo of University of Port Harcourt.


The Chairman of the occasion Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Idris, JP the Dan Isan Fika of Yobe State asked both Christians and Muslims to live in love for a better Nigeria and the society at large.


The United Nations Resolution on International Day of Peace was read by Rotn Mfon Abraham the President of Rotary Club of Uyo while the UN Secretary General’s Message was read by Mr Michael Bush an ace broadcaster.
In my speech, I encouraged everyone to think of the downtrodden so as to recover better from the effect of the dreaded Covid 19 pandemic and insecurity ravaging the global community.


Prayers for Peace in Nigeria, Africa and world at large as well as for the healing and curbing of the spread of Covid 19 was offered to God by the Christian and Moslem clergies.


Peace song was sang by all with the message May Peace Prevail on Earth at noon.


The Royal Fathers at the event include His Royal Highnesses Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar El-Kanemi the Emir of Dikwa, Borno State, Alhaji Lamido Abba Tukur the District Head of Jalingo, Taraba State, Chief Zaki Pius Beetse Chagu the Ter’u of Tiv of Benue State.


The political class was also represented by Mr Celestine  Ogolo , Director of Public Enlightenment in Ministry of Information, Rivers State who represented the Honorable Commissioner and the Executive Governor of Rivers State who in his Goodwill message saluted the choice of the UN for hosting the event in Rivers State, May Peace Prevail on Earth International (World Peace Prayer Society) and the United Nations for setting aside a day for humanity to reflect on peace.


The academic community was led by Professor Etim Uko of Rivers State University of Science,  the Annang Community was led by Chief Joseph Nnah, the Hausa community by Alhaji Isa Madam,JP the Sarkin Hausawa of Port Harcourt, the Yoruba, Tiv and the Igbo communities were in attendance.

The high point of the event was the award of Peace Poles, plaque, Medal and certificate to thirty two (32) Community Leaders, Peace Makers, Religious leaders, Traditional Rulers and Organizations were awarded Peace Ambassadors and Justice of Peace as a token of encouragement for them to further the cause of Peace more and more in the community. The DAAR Communication Plc operators of African Independent Television-AIT also received our Peace Pole Award and promised to partner with us in the promotion of our activities in the May Peace Prevail on Earth International through broadcasting. An Egyptian Professor Mohammed Alkhuzamy Aziz of Galala University, Egypt and Evangelist Cliff Jarrell a Nigerian missionary from Mississippi USA also received our Peace Pole Award as Ambassadors of Peace.


The 2021 IDP had a wider media coverage in both National/ International Television,  Radio, News Paper and on Social Media platforms.


The 2021 IDP Steering Committee in Nigeria led by Engr. Emmanuel Mbat and his team of Mr. Nwokocha Christian, Mr. Friday Obong, Mr. Ololade Olasunkanmi, Chief Mker Kefas Terngu, Alhaji Yakubu Bello, Amb. Joseph Boaz, Mr. Ubong Udoumoh did an excellent job as the distance between my home and the venue of the event is more than 200 kilometers and they really helped to make the event a success. 


Thank you to the Executive Director of MPPOEI Fumi Johns Stewart for her support and her message to Nigerians as well as Deborah Moldow and Yashio Mochizuki for their Goodwill messages.


It has been a very hectic and tedious task puting together the event and we thank God for granting us success.
Pray for more success in our endeavors. Hopping to recover better so we can united together in Nigeria in the future to celebrate an event like this.
