On October 27th, 2018 an historic live broadcast – ONE KOREA ONE WORLD – took place at the Imjingak Peace Nuri Park, located at the demilitarized zone (DMZ) which divides North and South Korea. The DMZ separating the Korean Peninsula runs 160 miles long and is approximately 2.5 miles wide. Though the zone is demilitarized, it is one of the most heavily militarized and dangerous borders in the world.

On a crips and clear October day, our call for peace to prevail in the Korean Peninsula and for the world rang out from the border of North and South Korea. The live broadcast of ONE KOREA ONE WORLD harnessed thousands of peace builders the world over to join us in a global synchronized meditation to anchor intentions, affirmations and prayers for a one unified Korea.

James Twyman and WPPS executive director, Fumi Johns Stewart, prepare for the global synchronized meditation for ONE KOREA

Singer-songwriter and peace activist James Twyman, who accompanied WPPS staff and friends from U.S., Scotland and Japan helped us lead the synchronized global meditation for ONE KOREA. The World Peace Flag Ceremony followed featuring students from the local Musan Sueok High School who volunteered to carrying the flags of the world.

The program was filled with focused intentions and deep prayers as the spirit of oneness and goodwill could be felt flowing and merging in, through and around the boundaries between North and South Korea and in our hearts.

It was a truly moving moment to see and feel the enormous compassion and love of the students who carried the spirit of the world in their hands as they called out for peace to prevail in every country on earth and our global family.

At the end of the program, we all gathered together to celebrate our epic event as our hearts were full and our souls fulfilled to know, each and everyone of us made a difference bringing us a step closer to the realization of one peaceful Korea and the vision of one humanity.

A Peace Pole was presented to Musan Sueok High School after the program. High School teacher (right) who runs the Peace Program accompanied the students to the event. Here he is with Mr. Ryu, (left) Secretary General of our local Korean partner, the Korean Organization for the United Nations International Day of Peace standing proudly next to the Peace Pole.

We thank our local South Korean partner the Korean Organization for the United Nations International Day of Peace (KOCUN) and our U.S partners WorldPeacePulse.org, Humanity’s Team and Unify for their support. We are also grateful to our supporting organizations URI, Won Buddhism UN & Interfaith, Goi Peace Foundation, Pathways to Peace, Gaiafield Project, The Peace School and the Border Peace School.
