Three children from one of the classrooms of the Earth Kids Space program located in Oshu, a northern city of Japan, received a special ceremony and certificates for participating in the 2013 16th Annual Peace Pals Art Exhibition and Awards.
“We officially thank you for your participation to the Peace Pals International Art and Exhibition 2013. With the certification, we honor your contribution for peace through the honorable International Peace Art Contest,” said Yashio Mochizuki of the Goi Peace Foundation/World Peace Prayer Society Japan Office.
Earth Kids Space Program developed and operated by the Goi Peace Foundation offers a safe place for children to gather after school and on weekends, where they can learn about peace and harmony, and respect for all life and the environment through games, stories, interactive workshops and outdoor activities. The program currently has 28 centers across Japan and in five other Asian countries. All the centers are run by volunteers with the support of local governments, schools, public institutions including libraries and community centers, youth groups and NGOs, demonstrating effective community collaboration.
