Members of the Galveston Rotary Club joined community leaders, residents, and partners from Galveston Regional Commerce to celebrate the installation of a Peace Pole at the corner of Post Office Street and 22nd Street in downtown Galveston.

Pictured in the ribbon-cutting are club members from left to right,
Gina Spagnola, President & CEO, Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce;
Chris Homer, President Nominee and owner of the host site, MOD Coffeehouse;
Kathy Van Dewalli, President; and Barbara Winburn, Immediate Past President.
Rocks painted by Club members and placed at the base of the pole.

This meaningful ceremony highlighted a collaborative effort to promote unity, goodwill, and Rotary’s mission of Service Above Self. The Peace Pole — an internationally recognized symbol — now stands as a lasting reminder of Galveston’s commitment to harmony, inclusion, and global understanding. Our pole contains the phrase “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in the eight languages most spoken in Texas: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Tagalog, Arabic, Hindi, and Urdu.
