Six Peace Poles in Garden at University Hall, University of Western Australia
November 2025
Submitted-January 2026
A new symbol of unity and hope is taking root at University Hall, University of Western Australia with the installation of a Peace Pole Garden — a space dedicated to reflection, respect, and the celebration of their diverse community. As a global residential community representing students from more than 50 nations, UniHall’s Peace Pole Garden reflects a commitment to recognizing and honoring the contributions of their diverse residents, alumni, and staff. This installation is both a celebration of their identity and a daily invitation to live the values of respect, inclusion, and connection.

Standing proudly at the entrance to University Hall, the Peace Pole Garden offers a quiet place for reflection, a welcome to all visitors, and a reminder that peace begins with understanding one another. The hope is that it will inspire everyone who passes through to pause and consider how they can contribute to a more compassionate and peaceful world.
The event was honored by the presence of Dr. John Stace, a long-time advocate for peace and member of the Medical Association for Prevention of War (MAPW). Dr. Stace has dedicated much of his life to raising awareness about the human costs of conflict, particularly nuclear war. Throughout the afternoon, he engaged in thoughtful conversations about the importance of compassion, dialogue, and global understanding — values at the heart of the Peace Pole movement. Dr. Stace’s lifelong commitment to care and peace made his presence a fitting addition to the celebration.
