Rotary Club of Woodend with Kathryn Footner, planting Peace Poles, Australia

Submitted:  January-2026

Kathryn Footner (left), Youth Services Chair of the Rotary Club of Woodend. The Peace Pole was planted by Woodend Rotary Club in Woodend Children’s Park, with a floral tribute to the victims of the Bondi attack on 14 December 2025

Allan and Shirley oversee our Vanuatu project and regularly visit the island of Santo Espiritu, where Woodend Rotary Club is helping to improve facilities at a local school in Mwast. We also have an active Pen Pal program between the Mwast school and St Ambrose Primary School in Woodend. One of the languages on the Woodend Peace Pole is Bislama, the language of Vanuatu. Below is a photo of them with the Peace Pole in Santo Espiritu.

Please let me know if you would like anything further.

Kind regards,
Kathryn Footner
