A Peace Pole stands on Pittsburgh Street in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Scottdale Area Chamber of Commerce President David Mardis, Scottdale Public Library Director Kristy Smith, Southmoreland School District Assistant Superintendent Dr. Dan Clara, Scottdale Volunteer firefighter Donovan Gray, Scottdale mayor-elect Lindy House and YMCA of Laurel Highlands Executive Director Steve Simon, as well as representatives from the Scottdale Area Association of Churches, turned out Dec. 9 for the dedication of the Peace Pole planted by the Scottdale Rotary Club.

Several Rotarians also were on hand. Speakers touched on the ways their various organizations foster peace in the community, and Pastor TJ Lucas of Trinity Reformed Church offered a prayer for peace. Leah Rittenhouse closed the ceremony with a song.  

A Peace Pole now stands on Pittsburgh Street in Scottdale.

Scottdale mayor-elect Lindy House spoke at the dedication.
