Our Centennial Peace Pole Installed at Mo’Oheau Park, Hilo, Hawaii, USA

OUR “CENTENNIAL” PEACE POLE FINALLY INSTALLED AT MO’OHEAU PARK, Hilo-Hawaii

Remember our Centennial year 2020? Remember COVID-19, lockdowns, shutdowns, and the fear and uncertainty it caused? Remember how our club faced the adversity, and following the leadership of President Nancy Cabral, we achieved more than most clubs did? President Nancy had a tough year for sure, and leaned upon her executives, VP Kerry Glass and Secretary Susan Munro. But one thing they couldn’t complete was President Nancy’s vision of a permanent and beautiful granite Peace Pole to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Rotary Club of Hilo.

Well… better late than never, right?????

So all who attended last Friday’s Peace Pole dedication were transported back to the year 2020. Past President Nancy Cabral was magically transformed to President again and ran our Mooheau Park Meeting. With help from Rotary Club of Hilo Bay’s Tim Hansen, Rotary Club of South Hilo’s Charlene Iboshi, Cou Ty of Hawaii Managing Director, Lee Lord, Connect Point’s Pastor Dion Maeda, and Pole Engraver Mike Sasaki our Peace Pole was unveiled and presented for all to enjoy while pondering the concept, “May Peace Prevail On Earth.”
