New Peace Pole monument unveiled in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia

A new monument to peace and unity has been erected in Ipswich thanks to a collaboration between Ipswich City Council and the community.
The monument was installed at Robelle Domain in Springfield Central in partnership with the Rotary Club of Greater Springfield under Ipswich City Council’s Provisional Projects program.
“The Peace Pole is adorned with the words, ‘May Peace Prevail On Earth’, in multiple languages, which is a powerful message in this day and age,” Acting Mayor and Division 2 Councillor, Nicole Jonic.
“Ipswich is a city that values its peaceful way of life and the Peace Pole aims to inspire residents and visitors to continue to foster harmony, unity and inclusiveness throughout our communities.
“I’m delighted people who come to Robelle Domain will now be able to bask in the spirit of peace that reverberates across our city.”
Division 2 Councillor, Paul Tully said the Peace Pole was a wonderful addition to Robelle Domain.
“Ipswich is a city made up of people from more than 160 countries living harmoniously together, with Division 2 suburbs among the most diverse in Queensland,” Cr Tully said.
“The Peace Pole is a celebration of this and enhances Robelle Domain as a pleasant and picturesque space for the community to gather.”
Rotary Club of Greater Springfield President Donelle Whiteley said the Peace Pole furthers Rotary’s goal of building a culture of peace throughout the world.
“The Rotary Club of Greater Springfield proposed the installation of a Peace Pole as a lasting symbol of unity and mutual respect,” Mrs. Whiteley said.
“This initiative reflects Rotary’s commitment to fostering understanding, harmony, and cooperation within the community.
“The Peace Pole will serve as a visible reminder of the shared aspiration for peace, encouraging reflection, dialogue, and connection among all who encounter it.”
