May Peace Prevail On Earth International Celebrates the UN International Day of Peace, Nigeria 2025

On Friday, September 19, 2025, May Peace Prevail On Earth International (MPPOEI) hosted the 2025 United Nations International Day of Peace Celebration in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, under the theme: “Act Now for a Peaceful World.” The event took place at the Conference Hall of Corporate Residence, Echelon Hotel, William Jumbo Road, Old GRA, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Program Highlights

The celebration featured a keynote by Dr. Cliff Jarrell of the Global Foundation for Orphaned Children. In his opening remarks, Mojima Etokudo, Nigeria Representative of MPPOEI, called for peace at the level of individuals, organizations, and governments.

Panel Discussion

A distinguished panel addressed pressing peace issues, including:

  • Prof. Auwal Magashi, Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Kano State
  • Prof. Iniodu George Ukpong, University of Cross River State
  • Khalifa Murtala Bamidele, Muslim cleric
  • Emem Mojima, Girls’ Child Advocate & Chairperson, NIPR Student Association, Akwa Ibom State University
  • Ini Jimmy, President, Leadership Clinic (Moderator)

The Royal Father of the Day, His Royal Majesty Eze Barr. Godspower Onuekwa, Ph.D., King of Emohua Kingdom and President General of Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organization Worldwide, appealed for peace in Nigeria through respect for humanity.

Participation & Media

The ceremony drew participants from across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. Students of Holy Cross International School, Port Harcourt, presented a powerful spoken word performance urging the United Nations to advocate for peace in Gaza and other conflict areas.

The event enjoyed wide coverage across television, radio, newspapers, social media, and was supported by young volunteers from schools and the private sector who served as ushers and protocol staff.

The 2025 Nigeria IDP Steering Committee, led by Dr. Godwin Kave, Amb.P, expressed gratitude to the UN Secretary-General, the MPPOEI global team, and all supporters who made the celebration possible.

Peace Awards

As part of the ceremony, the Desktop Peace Pole Award was conferred upon global citizens and organizations for their contributions to peace. Honorees were decorated with Peace Medals, Buttons, Stickers, Certificates, and Flyers inscribed with the universal prayer: “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” Prayers for peace in Rivers State, Nigeria, Africa, and the global community were offered, and participants sang the peace song composed for the event, “O God of Peace.”
