The 10th Annual International
Peace Pals Art Exhibition 2007

The International Peace Pals Art Exhibition offers children around the globe an opportunity to express their visions for a world at peace. Each year, a different theme invites their creativity and joy to be expressed in colorful artwork, inspired by the universal prayer, “May Peace Prevail on Earth.”

International hosts have included the University of Fine Arts & Design in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; the City Montessori School in Lucknow, India; and other distinguished venues in Russia, Argentina, Scotland, The Philippines, Japan, Chile and the USA. (See outstanding entries below and also on the website of the UN Global Teaching & Learning Project, at www.cyberschoolbus.un.org.)

The theme for 2007 is “Communicating Peace.” All children between the ages of five and fifteen are encouraged to participate! The International Awards Ceremony will be held at the United Nations International School in New York City on October 22nd to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the school.

Another exciting opportunity for Peace Pals!

The International Essay Contest for Young People
organized by The Goi Peace Foundation and UNESCO

The United Nations has designated 2001-2010 as the "International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World." Not only should young people benefit from this global movement, but they should be empowered to play a leading role in the creation of a culture of peace. The theme of this year's International Essay Contest is "The role of media and information and communication technologies in building a peaceful world." Young people from around the world are invited to submit their creative ideas on this theme. This theme was a central topic discussed at the UNESCO
Euro-Mediterranean Youth Forum held in November 2006.
