Become a Peace Pal Coordinator
Peace Pals activities can be incorporated into a peace education curriculum in schools, club activities or community projects. Teachers, scout leaders, heads of community youth organizations, and others who are in a leadership position with children and who would like to include Peace Pals activities as an integral part of their work are invited to become Peace Pal Coordinators.

The Role of a Peace Pal Coordinator
A Peace Pal Coordinator’s role is threefold:
1. Organizes Peace Pals activities in the classroom or in the community, using the mission statement as a guide.
2. Networks with the international membership of Peace Pal Coordinators via the Peace Pals Press, which serves as a forum to share inspirational and practical ideas about peace education.
3. Exercises the option to join the Matching Program, which links groups of children worldwide through correspondence.

The Peace Pal Matching Program
A Peace Pal Coordinator may choose to involve his/her group in a matching program to create an ongoing link with a group of Peace Pals in another country through the exchange of correspondence, artwork and cultural customs, sharing the message May Peace Prevail on Earth. This global connection cannot be found in books. It brings a richness and reality to any curriculum, giving children the opportunity to express and share their natural love and understanding of people around the world. The Directory of Peace Pal Coordinators provides a complete listing of each Peace Pals group from which to choose a match.

How To Get Started
If you would like to become a Peace Pal Coordinator, please read the following Coordinator Guidelines, and fill out and return the Peace Pal Coordinator Application. Upon appointment, you will receive a Coordinator Project Kit including information and materials on suggested Peace Pals activities, as well as a Directory of Peace Pal Coordinators. You will be joining an international network of Peace Pal Coordinators and will receive the Peace Pals Press, the newsletter that serves as a communication vehicle for coordinators worldwide. There will also be opportunities to participate in Peace Pals sponsored events. The Peace Pals Program team will be available to advise you as you get started with your activities.
The Peace Pal Coordinator Guidelines
Please read these guidelines in consideration of your application to become a Peace Pal Coordinator. They serve to insure the integrity of the Peace Pals Program, as well as to clarify the privileges and responsibilities of this role.
1. A Peace Pal Coordinator is a voluntary position held by an appointed adult wishing to incorporate the Peace Message into his/her activities with children. Membership dues or donations are not required.
2. A Peace Pal Coordinator is encouraged to organize activities to the extent of his/her own time and energy. It is expected, however, that the Peace Pals group meet at least once monthly, to pursue activities that further the mission of the Peace Pals Program. If a large-scale event, project or mailing is planned, it is requested that the Peace Pals office be notified in advance, so that guidance and/or assistance may be made available.
3. A Peace Pal Coordinator is financially self-sustaining. Although the Society cannot provide financial or operational support, we will offer requested information, guidance and encouragement.
4. Any printed matter using the Peace Pals name and logo must be pre-approved by the Peace Pals office.
5. In order to maintain a viable and active program, it is essential that every Peace Pal Coordinator inform the Peace Pals office of any change(s) in address, phone number and email.
6. A report of Peace Pals activities, with photos if possible, is expected to be submitted to the Peace Pals headquarters at least once a year.
7. A Peace Pal Coordinator is appointed for an indefinite term, and may resign with written notice to the Peace Pals office. Likewise, if a report of activities from a Coordinator is not received in the course of a year, or if any misconduct is reported, such as misuse of the Matching Directory, the term of appointment will automatically expire.
