World Peace Flag Ceremony at the Burnham School, Washington, Connecticut, USA

Jim Dugan with the students of the Burnham School

On November 7th, 2018, Jim Dugan of the World Peace Sanctuary in Wassaic, New York, USA, lead a World Peace Flag Ceremony with the students of the Burnham School in Washington, Connecticut.

Jim spoke about the current and future state of our planet, what ties all humans together and thoughts on having a meaningful life in society. Each child then proudly carried a flag from a UN Member State as everyone took a metaphorical trip around our planet and literally shouted “May Peace Prevail on Earth” as loud they could.

In the Spring the Peace Pole in the below photo will be planted on the school grounds with a time capsule inside.

Cathy Colella, the Principle of the Burnham School wrote afterword,
“The World Peace Flag Ceremony was fantastic!  It was emotional, energetic, and enlightening and I still have “happy” tears in my eyes.”

“The flags were amazing, and it was impressive to hear some of our students making connections to specific countries.”

“Our presenter, Jim Dugan, was engaging and inspirational.  He inspired the children to open their minds to the world around them and beyond.  His message of world peace gave hope to all, children and adults, for World Peace in light of our present climate. I could not have asked for a better message to be delivered.”

Cathy went on to say, “As a school community, we wish Peace to all and hope that our little school will continue to send this special message to all we encounter.”
“Laying the foundation of a peaceful world is one of our greatest challenges.”

“Peace always starts in the home, but if we can spread it through our school community and into the lives of others then we have made a difference.”
