On September 19th, 2018 Jim Dugan from The World Peace Sanctuary in New York was again the Keynote Speaker during the International Day of Peace (IDP) events at Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH). CVH opened in 1868 as the State’s public hospital for the treatment of persons with mental illness. For the past eight years the Hospital puts on two events to celebrate the International Day of Peace, one in their beautiful multi-religious Chapel and one in the Whiting Forensic Hospital for individuals with mental illness who are in the criminal justice system. Mr. Dugan’s twenty-minute Keynote Address was focused on this year’s IDP theme chosen by the United Nations – “The Right to Peace, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70”. Mr. Dugan was joined at the podiums by prominent religious leaders from around the State of Connecticut, staff from the Hospital’s Multi-Cultural Department and the Hospitals CEO Helene Vartelas. Mr. Dugan was very warmly received by patients and Hospital staff alike. The World Peace Prayer Society deeply thanks CVH for its Mission: “To promote recovery through collaborative, compassionate, and culturally competent treatment in a safe and caring environment.” May Peace Prevail on Earth, May Peace Prevail at Connecticut Valley Hospital
