World Peace Flag Ceremony in celebration of the Dalai Lama’s 81st Birthday, NYC-USA

His Holiness the Dalai Lama turned 81 on July 6th and a grand celebration gala was hosted in New York City to mark this occasion.  The evening gala was organized and sponsored by the Tibet House US, The Tibet Fund, Gaia Holistic and Orphans International Worldwide, and held at the Essex House between 6:30 and 9:30pm

The evening started with remarks by Dr. Kazuko Tatsumura, President of Gaia Holistic Health and Lobsang Nyandak, Executive Director of The Tibet Fund, followed by Prayers for Compassion and Long Life for His Holiness led by Geshe Tasha Dorjee, Geshe Thupten Wangdu and Phakyab Rinpoche.  Congratulatory remarks followed by guests who represented various other supportive organizations and individuals along with Tibetan songs by Tenzin Dolkar.

The World Peace Flag Ceremony closed the evening gala with a room full of enthusiastic guests with flag bearers taking the stage to send compassion to every corner of the globe.  It was a most befitting way to celebrate the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama with the spirit of compassion, love and harmony filling the hearts of all guests radiating out to the world.
