May Peace Prevail On Earth International

FIVE PEACE POLES dedicated on the International Day of Peace at Lutheran Social Services in Fargo, North Dakota-USA

No matter what is going on in your world, consider taking just a second or two to think about something most of us probably take for granted – peace.

People from Syria, and other countries in the Middle East, are being forced from their homes. Those in Ukraine are likely worried about Russian troops on their door steps.

Many don’t realize that Monday is the International Day of Peace. To commemorate the day, five Peace Poles were dedicated on the grounds of Lutheran Social Services in Fargo.

The Peace Poles are among 17 in our community. The message on the Peace Poles is in 20 languages. It’s a simple message: “May Peace Prevail on Earth.”

“I served two tours of duty in Vietnam, so I know what war is. And I feel everybody has a right to sleep at night. Everybody has a right to health care, everybody has a right to a decent meal, and a place to sleep. And World Peace Day kinda focuses on that, it’s time that we get together and really start doing things,” said Vietnam veteran Gary Nolte.
