INTERNATIONAL WALK FOR WORLD PEACE-WOODSTOCK, NY, USA

The first annual International Walk for World Peace was two days of people joining together in peace, love and harmony in the heart of Woodstock, NY.

The walk began at approximately 9:30 am.  Adults and children gathered at the intersection of SR 212 and SR 375 in Woodstock, NY to receive national flags, distributed by staff of The World Peace Prayer Society, to include, Fumi Johns-Stewart, Executive Director, Ann Marie Williams, Assistant Executive Director, Jim Dugan, Sanctuary Manager and Hal Lefferts, Coordinator for Peace Pals International Art. The walk consisted of more than 100 people carrying colorful, country flags, many carrying more than one flag to represent the 192 countries throughout the world.

Others carried banners bearing the message, May Peace Prevail On Earth.  The messengers of peace marched through the center of town, past the village green, where a beautiful hand-sculptured Peace Pole stands vigil, bearing the universal peace message, May Peace Prevail On Earth in over 100 languages.
